In addition to unveiling the upcoming Windows Phone Mango update at today’s event, Microsoft also announced which manufacturers would offer devices running the OS. Samsung, HTC, and LG are all back (where is Dell?), promising new devices including some 4G ones. Joining them will be Acer, Fujitsu, Nokia (courtesy of its new partnership) and ZTE.
These new devices will all be powered by Qualcomm’s second-generation Snapdragon mobile processors. But there should be a wider price range with a number of lower-priced phones to be offered. This will allow Mango to reach a market four times larger than first generation Windows Phone devices.
Microsoft also confirmed that they already have Nokia prototypes running Windows Phone Mango in their labs. Maybe Nokia will manage to release its first Windows Phone device this fall.
