The Windows Phone 7 Marketplace crossed the 10,000 app milestone this week. Considering that the Marketplace went live less than five months ago, Microsoft reached this milestone faster than both the Apple App Store and the Google Android Market did.
While Microsoft may be a long way from catching up to Apple and Android, it may very well catch up to RIM’s App World (with some 20,000 apps currently) sometime this year. In the last two weeks alone, it added over 1200 apps.
The Marketplace launched in late October and took just three weeks to top 1,000 apps. Last week, Microsoft announced that it had topped 9,000 apps.
