The Canadian Federal Court of Appeal today ruled that Globalive (and its WIND Mobile brand) can continue to operate in Canada. The decision overturned an earlier one by Canada’s federal court that struck down the federal government’s 2009 ruling that Globalive met Canadian ownership rules.
“I am hopeful that the incumbents will stop playing games now and focus on offering Canadians better service and lower cost wireless services,” said Anthony Lacavera, Globalive’s chairman.
The saga may not be over just yet. The decision could now be appealed to the Supreme Court. Globalive representatives were optimistic that this would not be the case though, calling the decision today “bullet proof.”
