Verizon today revealed that it expects that 4G upgrades for the Motorola XOOM will be available as of September. Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney indicated that the update would require that customers ship their XOOM tablets to Motorola which will perform the upgrade. The process should take about six business days and will be available to 3G customers free of charge (including shipping).
Motorola had expected to have the upgrade out in the spring but software performance issues delayed the release.
Letters notifying customers of the upgrade are now being sent out. Further details will be provided closer to the upgrade date as well.
