Samsung is expected to unveil its Galaxy S II smartphone to the US on August 29th. It now appears that at least one of the largest US carrier will not be at the party. According to The Wall Street Journal, Verizon, the biggest US carrier, is not planning to offer the device to its customers.
BGR has learned that Verizon will launch a very similar Samsung device featuring “nearly identical specifications” but without the Galaxy S II branding. Could it be a new DROID device?
Without confirming either reports, a Verizon Wireless spokeswoman said, “We have an extensive portfolio that offers customers a great variety of devices, including the Samsung Droid Charge.”
The other three major US carriers (AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile USA) are all expected to offer the Samsung Galaxy S II.
