Microsoft today announced that it has now shipped more than 2 million Windows Phone 7 devices to carriers. Only a month ago, Microsoft had announced shipments of 1.5 million devices. Greg Sullivan, a senior product manager at Microsoft, also expects sales to continue to accelerate. Unfortunately, that does not tell us exactly how many of these two million devices have made their way into the hands of customers.
Citing internal measures, Sullivan also said that 93 percent of Windows Phone 7 customers are satisfied with their device. Brand awareness is also growing, recording a 22 point increase since the launch in October.
“Sales are an important measure, but for a new platform we think customer satisfaction and active developer support are more important indicators of how sales will be over the long term,” he said.
There are now 6,500 applications in the Windows Phone Marketplace.
