Following up on its December 2010 promise, TELUS Mobility today announced that it will launch its HSPA+ network in March. It will offer peak download speeds of up to 42Mbps and upload speeds of up to 11 Mbps. Like some US carriers, TELUS is calling their HSPA+ network a “fourth generation (4G) network.” citing current International Telecommunications Union (ITU) standards.
Initial deployment will focus on the following markets: The Greater Vancouver Area, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Whistler, Camrose, Winnipeg, and the Greater Toronto Area.
The first device to be offered will be the Sierra Wireless AirCard 319U 4G Internet Key. At least one or two 4G handsets will follow later in the year.
