When Sony Ericsson unveiled the Xperia Play at CES 2011, it indicated that it would be available globally in selected markets starting in March 2011. It now appears that we will may have to wait just a bit longer.
Sony Ericsson confirmed to CNET.com that the Xperia Play will launch in the US with Verizon in either late April or early May. While it may be one of the first carriers to offer the device, it appears that Rogers Wireless will have the distinction of being the first in the world to do so. Sony Ericsson indicated that the Canadian launch will take place on April 14th.
Both versions will come with a number of games including Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, Star Battalion, and Tetris and a few others that vary by carrier. Additional games will be available through the Android Market (and the V Cast App Store for Verizon customers).
Pricing information for the Xperia Play has not been disclosed yet.
