As of today, you will not need to travel to New York to get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It is now available across the US from retailers such as Best Buy, Fry’s Electronics, Amazon.com, Micro Center, Tiger Direct and Newegg. Sprint will also carry the Wi-Fi-only models by “mid-summer.”
Samsung has also promised that a software update will soon be released to add a number of new features. Among these will be Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, Samsung Media Hub (with improved support for rented or purchased content downloads), Samsung’s Readers Hub service (offering more than 2.2 million books, 2,000 newspapers and 2,300 magazines), Samsung’s Social Hub service (which aggregates email, IM, social network connections and more), and a number of enterprise-focused features such as enhanced Exchange ActiveSync support, VPN, and on-device user data encryption.
Two models are available: The 16GB Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi edition will sell for US$499 while the 32GB version will go for US$599.
