Samsung today announced that its Galaxy S II smartphone has reached the milestone of 10 million global channel sales. It took the company only about 8 weeks to double sales from its previous milestone. In comparison, the original Galaxy S hit the same milestone but took 2 more months to do so.
“Since its launch in late April 2011, the GALAXY S II has seen continued sales success, demonstrating Samsung’s industry-leading capabilities in – and commitment to – the smartphone market” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.
“In just five months the GALAXY S II has seen tremendous growth, reflecting its tremendous popularity with customers around the world, who in selecting the GALAXY S II as their device of choice have driven the device’s strong market position globally.”
Sales of the Samsung Galaxy S II have reached 3.6 million in South Korea alone. Europe sales follow close behind with 3.4 million units sold and Asia is the third biggest market with 2.3 million units sold. With sales now in full swing in North America, it might not be too long before Samsung announces another record.
