Rumours swirled last week that Microsoft was set to acquire Nokia’s phone division for US$19 billion. Nokia’s CEO quickly stepped in to dispel them. Now comes word from The Wall Street Journal that Samsung might be interested in buying Nokia and that it is currently evaluating an offer.
Much as happened last week, both Nokia and Samsung have denied the rumour. “It seems like a market rumor and we don’t comment on rumors,” said a Samsung spokesman.
Could Nokia be quietly shopping itself around? If so, did it realize that it could get more than Microsoft’s offer?
