If a cease-and-desist request from Samsung’s legal team is legitimate, it has essentially confirmed the existence of the Google Nexus Prime, rumoured to be the next Nexus device. The letter states:
“It has come to our attention that you are wrongfully in possession of, and intend to release or otherwise publicly disclose without Samsung’s consent, firmware for the Nexus Prime. By this letter Samsung orders you to immediately cease, desist, and refrain, from any and all such activities.”
Essentially the letter confirms that the device exists and that it will be manufactured by Samsung. It does not reveal anything about specifications. Past rumours have suggested that the Nexus Prime will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP4460 processor and Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It could also pack a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 by 1280.
The Google Nexus Prime could be out as early as October although conflicting rumours also indicate that Ice Cream Sandwich may not be ready in time, delaying the release.
