The first device to make use of Samsung’s new smartphone naming convention is the Samsung Galaxy R. It is Samsung’s first smartphone to use a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.
“Samsung’s newest super phone shows off Tegra’s multimedia power, and is a great example of what consumers expect from one of the world’s top phone makers,” said Michael Rayfield, general manager of NVIDIA’s mobile business.

As per Samsung’s new naming convention, the Galaxy R’s specifications are not as impressive as those of the Galaxy S II. For example, the display is a bit smaller and lower in resolution and it comes with less onboard memory.
The Samsung Galaxy R is already available in Sweden. It will be released in other European countries as well as Asia. There is no word on any North American launch at this time.
