While some rumours have pointed to the next generation iPhone launching in early 2012, BGR has learned that a Fall 2012 launch is more likely. Citing “a close source,” it reports that it will launch about a year after the iPhone 4S.
BGR has also learned that this redesigned iPhone could use a rubber or plastic material for at least a portion of the case, perhaps the bezel. The material will join the glass face to a new aluminum back plate. A redesigned antenna system will surround the device and allow Apple to avoid using a plastic insert above the antennas as is done on the iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G.
There is no word to support (or dispel) earlier rumours that the next iPhone will use a larger 4-inch display.
