Published OpenGL benchmark results for the ASUS Padfone have apparently revealed a few details about the upcoming hybrid smartphone-tablet device. The device information shows that the Padfone runs an MSM8960 processor, part of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 lineup. If accurate, the Padfone could be one of the first devices to run a Qualcomm S4 processor.
The MSM8960 is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor although it appears to have been pushed only to 918MHz during testing. Previous rumours had suggested that the Padfone would come with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. It’s not clear if this was simply wrong or if ASUS has changed things up a bit under the hood.
The results also reveal that the Padfone’s 4.3-inch display will offer a qHD resolution (960×540).
The tests were performed with Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) but the Padfone is expected to ship with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) when it comes out in early 2012.
