It’s been relatively quiet on the iPhone and iPad rumour front recently. But we all knew it could not stay that way too long. iLounge is reporting that their “most reliable source” has shed some light on what we can expect in 2012.
First up is the third generation iPad. It will be slightly thicker (by 0.7mm) as a new higher resolution display will require a dual backlight system. It could be announced as early as January and available as early as March.
Meanwhile, the next generation iPhone will not feature a tear drop design but will come with a 4-inch display, making about 8 millimeters longer than the current model. It could also sport a metal (aluminium probably) casing. It could be unveiled in the summer although that could slip as it is still at the engineering stage of development.
Lastly, thinner MacBook Pros (taking design cues from Apple’s very successful MacBook Air) will also be introduced in 2012.
