Research In Motion today announced two new applications for the BlackBerry PlayBook. The first bring video chat capabilities to the tablet while the second is a native Facebook app.
The Video Chat application allows users to place and receive video calls between PlayBook tablets over an internet connected Wi-Fi network. It offers features such as One-Click Video, pop-up notifications for incoming calls, a “Do Not Disturb” option, the ability to switch between front and rear cameras, and a Friends list to maintain favourite contacts.
The BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat application will be available on May 3rd and will be pushed out through an OTA update. It will also be available on BlackBerry App World.
Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook is optimized for the tablet’s 7-inch multi-touch display. It supports all the usual features including viewing, interacting with and adding friends, photo and video viewing and uploading, support for Facebook Chat, and interacting with the News Feed.
Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook is now available on BlackBerry App World.
