RIM launches BlackBerry 7 smartphones including Torch 9810 and Torch 9850

Research In Motion today launched three new BlackBerry smartphones: The BlackBerry Torch 9810 and the All-Touch BlackBerry Torch 9850 and 9860. It also relaunched the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 first announced back at BlackBerry World in May. With more than 225 carriers involved, this is RIM’s largest global launch ever.

The new BlackBerry smartphones are all powered by a 1.2GHz processor and the BlackBerry 7 operating system. They all come with HD video recording, 24-bit high resolution graphics, and advanced sensors enabling new augmented reality applications such as Wikitude that can be seamlessly integrated with BBM 6.

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 smartphone is the successor of the BlackBerry Torch 9800 introduced last year. Like its predecessor, it features a touch display and a portrait slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 and 9860 come with a 3.7-inch display and feature an all-touch design.

The BlackBerry Bold 9900 series, first unveiled at BlackBerry World, bring touch displays to the Bold lineup. The thinnest BlackBerry smartphones yet (at 10.5 millimeters), they are also the first to feature built-in support for NFC (Near Field Communications).

The new BlackBerry smartphones will begin to be available from carriers later this month. Stay tuned as I expect we will see a flurry of carrier announcements.
