RIM BlackBerry PlayBook to have better battery life than Apple iPad?

RIM PlayBook

RIM has once again reaffirmed that concerns around the upcoming PlayBook’s battery life are unfounded. Jeff McDowell, RIM’s senior vice-president for business and platform marketing, went as far as suggesting that the PlayBook’s battery life will be better than the Apple iPad’s. “It’s going to be equal or greater than the iPad with smaller battery size,” he said.

McDowell also expects that there will be about 4000 applications available at the PlayBook’s expected launch in March.

RIM is also planning to unveil new software called BlackBerry Balance which will let BlackBerry users segregate personal and work-related emails and applications. The software will let enterprises manage their corporate data securely while letting users use their devices for personal reasons (surfing the web, Facebook, etc). BlackBerry Balance should be available within the next two months.
