Research In Motion today announced two new BlackBerry 7 smartphones, the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and the BlackBerry Curve 9380. The former updates the classic Bold design with a curvier one and buttons very similar to those on the Torch 9850. The latter is the first Curve device to be an all-touch device with touchscreen display.
“We are very excited to expand the BlackBerry 7 portfolio with the new BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380,” said Carlo Chiarello, Senior Vice President, Handheld Product Management at Research In Motion. “BlackBerry smartphones offer a uniquely refined mobile communications experience that people love and we think many customers will be thrilled by the faster performance, beautiful touch displays and compact designs available with these new BlackBerry 7 based models.”
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 comes with a 1GHz processor, a 2.44-inch 360×480 touchscreen display, full QWERTY keyboard, 8GB of onboard memory and support for microSD cards up to 32GB. The BlackBerry Curve 9380 does away with the physical keyboard and comes a 3.2-inch 480×360 touchscreen display, a rear-facing 5MP camera with flash and video capture. Both also support NFC.
Both the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 smartphones will be available from various carriers around the world in the coming weeks.
