A tip received by MobileSyrup.com suggests that Public Mobile is set to sign (or has signed) a roaming agreement with TELUS Mobility. To date, the company had no roaming agreement, meaning that customers could not use their phones outside of Public Mobile’s coverage area.
A blue “R” will be displayed on the phone when roaming (Note that roaming does not work with the Samsung R312) is in effect. Roaming charges will be CA$0.20 per minute for voice and CA$0.15 per sent text message. Received text messages will be free. To take advantage of this feature, customers will need to deposit money into an account from which roaming charges will then be deducted.
It’s not clear when Public Mobile will announce its roaming agreement but hopefully it will not be too long.
