The HP TouchPad Go (codename Opal), the smaller 7-inch sibling to the HP TouchPad, has made an appearance on a Chinese forum courtesy of someone claiming to have had one for three months. With HP recently announcing that it would no longer offer webOS hardware, it is unlikely that the hardware manufacturer will ever release it despite it apparently being only weeks away from launch.
The specifications caught in one of the pictures line up with those of a recent FCC filing. The model in question sports a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ 8060 processor and comes with 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, a 3G connectivity module, front and rear cameras and interestingly, NFC capabilities. The display appears to have an aspect ratio of 4:3 and with the same 1024×768 resolution as the larger 10-inch TouchPad.
HP recently announced that it would do one last HP TouchPad production run and it is possible that some components originally intended for the TouchPad Go could make their way into those units.
