Nokia has sent out invitations to a June 21st event where it will not only unveil but also demo its “newest, soon-to-be-named” device. Without revealing anything about it, Nokia promised that it would be a “market disrupting device.” The event will also be followed up with a live broadcast of Stephen Elop’s keynote speech from the Nokia Connection conference in Singapore.
Nokia has indicated that the event will be solely a product demonstration followed by a Q&A where Kurt Bonnici, product and technology marketing manager at Nokia Australia, will “answer technical questions relating to the new device.”
The two likeliest scenarios appear to be the unveiling of Nokia’s first Windows Phone device or a Nokia MeeGo device (perhaps the Nokia N9?). Whether either of these will truly cause a market disruption remains open for debate.
