Nokia may unveil its first Windows Phone smartphone earlier than Nokia World in October. Microsoft and Nokia have begun to send out invitations to an event set to take place at at this month’s GamesCom in Cologne, Germany. The August 17th event promises that “exciting actions and surprises will make it an an evening to remember.”
The invitation also indicates that three Nokia Windows Phones will be raffled off (although winners will have to wait until they are available to get their hands on them).
It remains to be seen if the two companies will really use a games trade show to unveil the eagerly expected device. Nokia is not expected to be among the first to launch Mango devices so this could be a move to capture a bit more attention before other devices are launched. Or it could be something more software based…
