Negotiations between Nokia and Microsoft over the use of Windows Phone on Nokia smartphones are on track, according to Kai Oistamo, head of corporate development at Nokia. “Negotiations have progressed very well. They will be concluded well on schedule,” he confirmed today to Reuters.
A schedule for the completion of the negotiations were not given but should finish this month if timelines given by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop in February when the deal was announced remain accurate.
The news should ease concerns that the ongoing negotiations could result in delays in Nokia starting to release Windows Phone smartphones. With no apparent delays in negotiations, we can expect to see “a large number of Nokia Windows phones” (with exclusive features?) go on sale in 2012.
