Nokia does not appear to be able to catch a lucky break these days. It recently announced lowered Q2 sales projections and a reduced yearly forecast and rumours have been swirling that it could be bought out (perhaps by Microsoft or Samsung). Now comes word that its Chief Technology Officer, Richard Green, has taken a leave of absence and may not return at all.
The report first broke in the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat but Nokia has since confirmed that Green has taken a leave for “personal matters.” Henry Tirri, head of Nokia Research Center, was named acting CTO.
Nokia’s new strategy appears to be at the heart of the matter. Green apparently disagreed with the decision to abandon MeeGo in favour of Microsoft’s Windows Phone.
