Nokia revealed today that it could use several chipset suppliers for future Windows Phone devices. While its first generation devices will use Qualcomm chipsets (like every other Windows Phone device currently available), the same may not be true for subsequent generations of devices. According to a Nokia spokesperson:
“Our aim is to build a vibrant ecosystem around Nokia and the Windows Phone OS and with that intent we are naturally continuing discussions with a number of chipset suppliers for our future product portfolio.”
The only company named so far as a potential supplier is ST-Ericsson.
