Despite a new partnership with Microsoft to use Windows Phone in upcoming smartphones, Nokia’s tablet strategy may not include its new partner. Citing “a person with knowledge of the company’s thinking,” Reuters reports that Nokia is still weighing options, including MeeGo (a platform Nokia worked on with Intel).
With the market increasingly crowded, Nokia is apparently looking to come up with a distinctive product that may scale up to larger devices, including televisions. “That could include Microsoft, it may not,” Reuter’s source said.
Microsoft may not have a tablet platform ready until 2012, possibly another reason that Nokia is looking at alternatives.
