New quad-core HTC Edge details revealed

New details have emerged about what could be one of the first smartphones to use a quad-core processor. Courtesy of the original rumour and new details obtained by BGR and Digitimes, we now have a pretty complete picture of the HTC Edge’s rumoured specifications:

  • Processor: 1.5GHz Quad-core Nvidia AP30 Tegra 3
  • Operating system: Google Android 4.0
  • Cellular connectivity: 21Mbps HSDPA
  • Other connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
  • Display: 4.7-inch HD (720 x 1280) S-LCD 2
  • Input: Capacitive touchscreen
  • Memory: 1GB RAM
  • Storage: 32GB internal / No microSD card slot
  • Rear-facing camera: 8MP with f/2.2 lens and 1080p video capture
  • Front-facing camera: Capable of 720p video capture
  • Battery: 1,800mAh
  • Dimensions / weight: 8.8 millimeters thick with unibody design
  • Other: Beats Audio, microSIM card

BGR suggests that the HTC Edge’s 4.7-inch 720p HD S-LCD 2 display with optical lamination could be “one of the best displays in the world.”

A launch date is expected in the March or April time frame. Price and carrier availability details remain unknown at this time.

Digitimes also claims that Samsung, LG and Motorola are also working on their own smartphones powered by NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor.
