Rogers has already announced that it will deploy LTE in Toronto on September 28th. It has yet to provide specific details for
Montreal and Vancouver beyond indicating that both should launch sometime this fall. A leaked document obtained by MobileSyrup.com has now shed some light on Rogers’ upcoming LTE deployments.
Deployment in all three cities will follow a two phase approach. According to the document, both Montreal and Vancouver will go live with LTE on September 28th along with Toronto in the first phase. The first phase will cover:
- Toronto area: the core of the city and extend into Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke
- Montreal area: Dollard-Des-Ormeaux, Montreal and St.Laurent
- Vancouver area: the central area of the city, Richmond and Burnaby
- Ottawa: Unspecified expansion
Phase 2 will then follow “later in the year” and expand coverage:
- Toronto area: Brampton, Oakville, Mississauga, Markham, Pickering, Richmond Hill and Thornhill
- Montreal area: Boucherville, Laval, Saint-Constant, St-Eustache and Terrebonne
- Vancouver area: Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, Maple Ridge, North Vancouver, Surrey and West Vancouver
The only LTE device available from Rogers is the LTE Sierra Wireless U313 but it is expected to be joined soon by the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE and the HTC Puccini LTE. An unspecified HTC smartphone is also in the cards sometime later.
