Sony Ericsson today announced two new Xperia smartphones (along with the Xperia Play). The Xperia neo promises to give consumers “a new way to experience the best of Android and the best of Sony multimedia” while the Xperia pro will combine “intuitive and fast messaging with multimedia features from Sony.”
Both the Xperia neo and Xperia pro will be powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor (with Adreno 205 GPU) and Android 2.3. Both will sport a 3.7-inch FWVGA (854 by 480) touchscreen display, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA, a microSDHC card slot, an HDMI-out port, and a rear-facing 8MP camera. The Xperia pro adds a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Both will support quad-band GSM and either dual-band (900/2100MHz) or tri-band (800/1900/2100MHz) UMTS/HSPA connectivity depending on the variant.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia neo will be available in select markets starting at the end of Q1 2011 while the Xperia pro will follow at the end of Q2 2011.
