Motorola this week released a software update for the AT&T Motorola ATRIX 4G. The update not only provides Android 2.3.4 but also some new features and enhancements. These include an upgrade to 1080p video playback, improvements to the Picture Gallery and Music Player apps, an updated interface with a simpler home screen design and and an iPhone-like app dock, the ability to group apps, improved WebTop browsing with Firefox 4, and more.
One new undocumented feature is the ability now to install apps from “unknown sources” by enabling the new button in the Application Settings.
The update is available both OTA and via download. The manual install is done via SD card.
It remains to be seen if and when Bell users of the Motorola ATRIX will benefit from this update.
