On the heels of yesterday’s HP’s webOS tablets leak, Engadget has obtained further information about the two upcoming devices.
The Opal will sport a 7-inch display running at a resolution of 1024 by 768. It measure 180 by 144 by 13 millimeters (slightly shorter but wider than the Samsung Galaxy Tab). The display on the 9-inch Topaz (which will measure 241 by 190 by 13 millimeters) could offer the same resolution but this appears less certain. Both will come with HP’s Beats audio processing (also offered on some of its notebooks). Both could also support an interesting feature called “Tap-to-Share” which would let you tap two devices to share a file such as a document or song.
HP will also provide customers with “tens of gigabytes” of cloud storage. Everything from apps, app states, and saved documents could be stored there, making it easier to share them across devices.
One possible accessory to be offered alongside the tablets could be a Touchstone wireless charging dock that would transform the tablet into an alarm clock, digital photo frame, and GPS unit. This would imply that the tablets will support inductive charging.
The Opal appears set for a Q3 launch but the Topaz could launch up to three months earlier.
More disappointing is Engadget’s take on HP’s upcoming webOS smartphones. More than one will be announced on February 9th but they are described as “nothing too amazing.”
