An anonymous 4chan user has apparently managed to spend a bit of time with the upcoming Google Nexus Prime. He describes it as “blazingly fast” and very similar to the Sprint version of the Galaxy S II but with a curved display (like the Nexus S).
The tipster indicates that the Nexus Prime will come with a 1.5GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor, a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus 720 HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, and a 2,000mAh battery. With a metal casing, it is heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S II but it is quite thin (8.8 millimeters).
The source reveals a few interesting details about Ice Cream Sandwich:
- The device lists Ice Cream Sandwich as version 2.4.1 rather than the expected 4.0 version number.
- The redesigned UI is more polished with nicer and smoother menus and more animations.
- The App Drawer has been redesigned and will feature sections for apps, games and widgets.
- It will also be possible to create new App Drawer sections.
- The Gmail app has been improved and includes a preview pane in landscape mode.
- An improved browser which is “leaps and bounds better than what you currently get.”
It is also suggested that Verizon passed on the Galaxy S II to have an exclusive on this device. Earlier rumours suggested that Verizon will launch it first but that other US carriers will also offer it later.
