With Windows Phone 7.5 complete and making its way into customers’ hands, Microsoft is (hopefully) hard at work on new features and new versions. MSNerd has obtained an alleged Windows Phone roadmap that takes us all the way to 2014 and Windows 9 Mobile (merging Windows 9 and Windows Phone 9?). Here’s what the next few years could look like in the Windows phone world:
- CES 2012 – Tango1 Launch
- MWC 2012 – Tango2 SDK
- MIX 2012 – Tango 2 launch and Apollo announce
- E3 2012 – Apollo SDK
- August 2012 – Windows Phone 8
- MWC 2013 – Apollo+1 teaser
- MIX 2013 – Apollo +1 SDK
- MWC 2014 – WPN (Windows Phone Nine/New/Next?) teaser
- MIX 2014 – WPN SDK
- BUILD 2014 – Windows 9 Mobile RTM
- November 2014 – Windows 9 and Windows 9 Mobile launch
No sources are given for this information and as MSNerd points out: “Microsoft and I are equally unreliable.” Take all this with a healthy dose of scepticism.
