Business Insider is reporting that Microsoft could show off new Windows 8 tablets as early as June. Their source goes on to suggest that Microsoft is working on an “Apple-like” interface and may use elements from their “Metro” concept interface (also used in Windows Phone 7).
According to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, Windows 8 development is well on its way with one internal recent milestone having just been successfully passed and another at the end of July. Foley suggests that Windows 8 could be released in mid-2012. Microsoft, for its part, has not provided any official timeline details for the release of Windows 8.
A recently leaked Dell smartphone and tablet roadmap suggests that we could see a Windows 8 tablet in early 2012.
