Microsoft has published schedules outlining when customers can expect to receive Windows Phone 7 updates. The schedule covers the February update (the pre-update update) and the March one (also known as NoDo).
There are three stages to the deployment: Testing (The software update is undergoing mobile operator network and quality tests.), Scheduling (Operator testing is complete, and Microsoft is scheduling the update for delivery. This phase typically lasts 10 days or less.), and Delivering Updates (Microsoft has started to send out the update. Because updates are typically delivered to customers in batches, it might take several weeks before you receive notice that an update is available for you.)
In Canada, the February update shows a status of “Delivering update” for Bell, Rogers, SaskTel, and TELUS. The March update has a status of “Scheduling” for all four carriers.
The US schedule is by device:
Device | February update | March update |
Dell Venue Pro | Scheduling | Scheduling |
HTC HD7 | Scheduling | Scheduling |
HTC Surround | Testing | Testing |
LG Quantum | Testing | Testing |
Samsung Focus | Testing | Testing |
It looks like many will have to wait a while yet to see the March update on their devices…
