LG moved today to deny rumours that it would not provide an Android 4.0 upgrade to its Optimus 2X smartphone. In a Facebook post, the company confirmed not only that the Optimus 2X would be upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) but so would other “LG high-end smartphones”:
LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.
LG has not provided specific availability details so far but promises to do so once Google releases the latest version of its OS.
The LG Optimus 2X is offered in Canada by Fido, Vidéotron, and WIND Mobile. It is also offered in the US by T-Mobile as the T-Mobile G2X.
