BGR.com has some new information on the next Google Nexus smartphone. According to their source, the device, to run the Ice Cream Sandwich release, is codenamed “Prime” and could end up launching as the “Google Nexus Prime.”
The new details confirm that the display will be a “Super AMOLED HD” one (720p HD?), suggesting that Samsung will in fact be the device manufacturer (as it is for the current Google Nexus S). The processor will be a TI OMAP4460 (1.5GHz dual-core, 1080p stereoscopic 3D with hardware accelerated graphics, main camera up to 20MP). Once again, we can expect a base Android installation with no carrier or OEM changes.
Google could also surround its own flagship device with a series of “exclusive” Android Ice Cream Sandwich devices developed by different OEMs and intended for different carriers. For example, you could have an HTC device headed to AT&T and an LG one at Sprint. Best of all, all would launch at roughly the same time.
