Digitimes reports that HTC could ship over 10 million 4G (both LTE and WiMAX) smartphones in 2011, accounting for up to 20 percent of its overall smartphone shipments. Aside from Verizon and Sprint, HTC could also ship devices to customers in Europe and Japan.
In 2010, HTC shipped about 3 million 4G smartphones, namely the HTC EVO 4G. Digitimes also includes shipments of 500,000 of the HSPA+ myTouch 4G to bring the ‘4G’ total to 3.5 million devices.
HTC recently unveiled the 4G HTC Thunderbolt and HTC EVO Shift 4G smartphones.
It appears that HTC could be set for another banner year, given its target of shipping up to 60 million handsets.
