Microsoft confirmed yesterday that HTC will be one of the manufacturers to release new devices powered by the Mango version of Windows Phone later this year. HTC CEO Peter Chou later confirmed to Reuters that the company is already hard at work on those devices. “We have some Windows Mango phones. We are very committed to Windows phone products,” Chou said during the interview at the e-G8 summit in France.
Chou also reaffirmed that HTC’s relationship with Microsoft would not change despite its success with Android-powered devices. HTC had its best quarter ever in Q1 2011, shipping nearly 9 million devices. How many of those were Windows Phone though is unclear.
Chou declined to say when the new Windows Phone devices would be launched.
