HTC shipped some 12.1 million handsets in Q2 2011 (an impressive growth of 123.7% year-on-year, 24.8% quarter-on-quarter) and has now set a goal of 13.5 million for Q3. To support this goal, it plans to launch between 6 and 8 new devices according to HTC CEO Peter Chou.
Q2 saw the launch of a number of entry-level smartphones (such as the HTC Wildfire S and the HTC ChaCha/Status) which drove the ASP (average selling price) of HTC handsets down to US$349. The company will likely reverse this trend in Q3 as its upcoming devices will target the middle- and high-end markets.
