HTC was recently dealt a setback when US courts ruled in favour of Apple over two patents in an infringement lawsuit that dates back to 2010. HTC responded by saying that it would appeal the ruling and HTC CEO Peter Chou added that the smartphone wars ought to be fought in the market place rather than the courts. Now HTC appears to be striking a more conciliatory tone with comments that it is willing to negotiate a settlement. In an interview with Bloomberg, HTC’s Winston Yung said that the company is “open to all sorts of solutions, as long as the solution and the terms are fair and reasonable.”
For its part, Apple has yet to comment on any potential negotiations with HTC.
Apple first filed a complaint against HTC with the International Trade Commission (ITC) back in March 2010. It accused HTC of infringing 10 mobile patents it holds. Earlier this month, Apple filed an additional suit against HTC, alleging further patent infringements.
