When HP unveiled the upcoming webOS TouchPad earlier this month, it only said that the device would go on sale sometime this summer. A new Digitimes report suggests that it could in fact go on sale as early as April.Sources “from HP’s upstream component partners,” suggest shipments will begin in late March with sales to start shortly after.
The same sources report that HP expects to sell between 4 and 5 million HP TouchPad devices in 2011. They also warn that HP could have “great difficulties to regain its pace in the tablet PC market in the future” should it fail to immediately challenge Apple and its iPad tablet.
Here is to hoping that summer starts in April this year…
