A number of new rumours are shedding some new light on the upcoming release of the HP Pre 3, HP’s latest webOS smartphone. HP for its part has only promised a summer release.
While FCC documentation suggested a while back that the Pre 3 would ship with webOS 2.3, the latest suggests it will ship instead with webOS 2.2 instead. Perhaps HP is still putting finishing touches on the next version which would then follow via OTA. But a pre-release Pre 3 screenshot also shows that Skype will be fully integrated into its messaging suite along with AIM, Yahoo, and Google Chat.
As for release dates, Verizon is apparently aiming to launch the Pre 3 on July 21st. That date lines up almost perfectly with Rogers’s rumoured launch date of July 19th. AT&T is also planning a launch but only in the more nebulous “next few months.” All this points to a mid to late July release at this time.
