After HP announced plans to get out of the webOS device business (and leaving webOS dangling in the wind), it should come as no surprise that the HP Pre 3, announced at the same time as the HP TouchPad, will not go on sale in the US (and likely Canada). HP has not scrapped sales entirely but will focus on “limited markets” instead.
An unlocked version of the HP Pre 3 will reportedly go on sale in both France and the UK for US$75, a fraction of its expected unsubsidized price (France currently lists it at €349 and the UK at £299). There is no word yet on when the sale will start but it could be any time based on how quickly HP reduced the price of the HP TouchPad.
A word of caution for anyone thinking of importing one to the US or Canada: The radio bands are not fully compatible and will only provide limited 3G AT&T connectivity and EDGE with T-Mobile USA.
