Hewlett-Packard today formally announced its first connected version of the recently launched HP TouchPad. HP had already indicated that such a device would soon be available. As expected, the HP TouchPad 4G, as it will be known, is headed for AT&T.
“TouchPad 4G is ideal for anyone who needs maximum flexibility for productivity on the go,” said David Gee, vice president, Marketing and Enterprise Solutions, webOS, Personal Systems Group, HP. “It’s particularly well suited for users who rely on connectivity in the field – from large corporations to small businesses and self-employed mobile professionals.”
As rumours had suggested, the HP TouchPad 4G comes with some slightly improved specifications over the Wi-Fi-only HP TouchPad. It comes with a faster 1.5GHz dual-core processor, A-GPS, and the aforementioned AT&T wireless mobile broadband capabilities (HSPA+) built in.
What is missing from the announcement are specific availability and pricing details. HP only indicated that these details would be “available at a later date.” Rumours suggest an August launch though.
