The Google Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich, the next major version of Android, had been expected at Samsung’s canceled CTIA Unpacked event. A DroidLife.com source now suggests that Google will now make its announcement on October 19th at the AsiaD: All Things Digital event in Hong Kong.
Giving credence to the story is the fact that Google’s Andy Rubin is scheduled to speak at the event. Such an announcement would follow in the footsteps of last year’s Motorola XOOM and Honeycomb unveiling. It also lines up nicely with the expectation that the Google Nexus Prime will be unveiled “very shortly.”
The event appears set to take place at 0900 on the 19th in Hong Kong. In Toronto, the event would then take place at 2100 ET on October 18th. It just so happens that the 18th is also the date that Motorola and Verizon are holding an event of their own.
