Google could have a Nexus tablet out sometime within the next six month. In an interview with Italian Italian Corriere Della Sera, Google chairman Eric Schmidt said that the company is planning to “market a tablet of the highest quality” in the first half of 2012. He does not mention the Nexus brand in the article but Google has hinted at such a product in the past.
As to who would manufacture the Nexus tablet, two names come to mind: Motorola (which Google is in the process of acquiring) and Samsung, the company behind the Galaxy Nexus and Google Nexus S. Or could it be LG as suggested by older rumours?
Schmidt also hinted that Google will leverage its voice recognition technology to offer functionality similar to Apple’s Siri.
Could a Nexus-branded tablet be the device that helps Android tablets become stronger competition against the market dominating Apple iPad?
