Google shows off Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) on video

Google earlier today posted a video showing off the upcoming Android 3.0 operating system on its YouTube channel. It was quickly taken down, suggesting it was released prematurely.

It was up long enough to confirm at least a couple of details. First, Honeycomb will be only for tablets according to the text “Entirely for Tablet” seen at the beginning of the video. Second is the significantly different interface from the smartphone version of Android. Lastly, it does put to rest rumours that Honeycomb would be Android version 2.4; it will be 3.0 after all.

The video has now surfaced again (courtesy of Engadget):

Rumours suggest that it could be released in the March time frame.
